Burkina/fight against malaria: the municipality of Bobo-Dioulasso wants to clean 40 km of gutters

The special municipal delegation of Bobo-Dioulasso announced Monday during a press conference, an 'unprecedented' operation to clean 40 kilometers of gutters in the city, from 16 to 18 May to limit flooding and the risks of spreading malaria and madness, we learned from media sources.According to the president of the special municipal delegation (PDS) of Bobo-Dioulasso, Laurent Koutoukou Kontogom, with the support of the presidential initiative for community development, this cleaning operation will benefit from an 'unprecedented' scale, reports the daily Sidwaya.According to Mr. Kontogom, this gutter cleaning operation will see the participation of student trainees from vocational schools as well as the worker forces of the municipality.The PDS therefore encouraged the population to 'take the lead' in the operation in order 'to limit flooding and the risks of spreading malaria and madness'.The first head of the special municipal delegation (PDS) of Bobo-Dioulasso highlighted some obstacles, notably t he need to move certain residents who have built above the gutters and also the logistical challenges linked to this undertaking.However, the president of the special municipal delegation (PDS) of Bobo-Dioulasso reassured that awareness raising is being done so that the operation goes well.Source: Burkina Information Agency
