Ouagadougou: The Transitional Legislative Assembly (ALT) unanimously adopted this Tuesday, the bill authorizing the ratification of the concessional loan agreement between Burkina Faso and the Export Import Bank of China (China Eximbank) for the construction of a solar power plant in Donsin, at a cost of 30 billion FCFAThe loan agreement, signed on September 29, 2023 between the Burkinabe government and the Chinese export-import bank concerns the financing of the construction project of the 25MWp solar power plant with 5MW /20MWh of storage in Donsin, Oubritenga province, Central Plateau region.The Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries, Yacouba Zabré Gouba, who represented the government before the deputies, explained that the particularity of this plant lies in the storage aspect.For him, storage will allow smoothing of the network to deal with network disruptions linked to intermittency. The first manager in charge of energy also explained that the project will make it possible to secure Donsin airpo rt in terms of energy supply and to increase national production by 45 Gigawatt hours per year, an increase of 6% in current production. It will also make it possible to connect more than 50,000 new households and train more than 50 executives in the energy sector.Construction of the 25MWp Donsin solar power plant was scheduled to start in January 2024 with a completion time of 15 months.'The company has agreed to start the work with its own funds as soon as the project is validated by the Transitional Legislative Assembly,' reassured Minister Gouba.
