The Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Dr. Boubakar Savadogo installed Tuesday in Ouagadougou, the National Organizing Committee (NOC) of the 34th edition of the Tour du Faso composed of nearly a hundred members, with the president of the Burkinabè Cycling Federation Ignace Béréwoudougou as president.
The National Organizing Committee (NOC) of this 34 th edition of the Tour du Faso comprises cells, commissions and specific officials.
The minister in charge of sports, Boubakar Savadogo is the general supervisor of this committee, assisted by the permanent secretary of the Tour du Faso, Joseph Poda.
NOC President Ignace Béréwoudougou is supported by Director General of Sports Alexandre Yougbaré as vice-president of the committee.
The committee is mainly made up of stakeholders from the ministry in charge of sports. There is among others Idrissa Sédogo at the presidency of the finance commission, he who is the finance director of the ministry, he is assisted by Félix Zabré.
The vice-president of the Burkinabè Cycling Federation, Lazare Zabré chairs the logistics and material commission and is assisted by Yaya Logoda, vice-president of the logistics commission.
The press commission is led by Jonas Kafando, director of communication and public relations of the ministry in charge of sports, who will be supported by Amadou Junior Zongo, who is also in charge of communication at the Burkinabè cycling federation.
The Minister in charge of sports, Boubakar Savadogo officially installed on Tuesday August 29 the NOC for the 34th edition of the Tour du Faso which was to be held in 2022 and which was postponed to 2023 due to the difficult security context in the country.
“The Tour du Faso is not only for Burkinabè cyclists, it is for cyclists from the sub-region and I think that we must organize ourselves so that we can guarantee safety and that this tour takes place in a secure environment” declared Minister Savadogo who insisted on the importance of being able to guarantee security for this edition.
Savadogo added that this edition of the Tour du Faso must be a celebration and that he wants this celebration to be enhanced.
Tour du Faso 2023, “edition of resilience”
The representative of the president of the national organizing committee Lazare Zabré mentioned that it is with great joy that the Burkinabè cycling federation welcomed the organization of this 2023 tour and that this edition will be an edition of resilience.
“I can reassure you that the circuits that we have proposed are circuits which respect international standards, the circuit was submitted to the International Cycling Union which gave guidelines” added Mr. Zabré.
He also informed that at the end of the arbitration, 12 teams will be selected in addition to the teams from Burkina Faso and reassured that the teams which will be selected will be teams of a very high level.
As a reminder, the Tour du Faso 2023 will be held from October 26 to November 5, 2023 and cyclists will have to travel through 7 regions of the country for a distance of more than 1,900 km in around ten days. The last edition of the Tour du Faso which took place in 2021 was won by the German Daniel Bichlmann.
