Abuja: The census of tourism businesses has been launched in Ouessa as part of an initiative to strengthen the sector's database. The Provincial Director of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism (DPCCAT) of Ioba, Casimir Somda, commenced the operation on Thursday, July 17, 2026, aiming to register tourism businesses in the region.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this registration effort, spearheaded by Casimir Somda, focuses on identifying tourist accommodation establishments, leisure establishments, and restaurants that meet current standards. The initiative is a crucial part of implementing the Burkinabe tourism satellite account (CST-B), which seeks to equip the country with a comprehensive and regularly updated database of tourism enterprises.
During the operation, the census team visited various establishments to gather essential information, including the date of creation, operating permits issued by the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism (MCCAT), health certificates, Unique Financial Identifier (IFU), Trade and Personal Property Credit Register (RCCM), accommodation capacity, and monthly turnover figures for 2025.
The operation successfully identified fifteen leisure establishments, two restaurants, and four tourist accommodation establishments in Ouessa. As per the provincial director, these establishments adhere to the regulatory standards and requirements of the sector. The census proceeded smoothly, thanks to the cooperation of the establishment owners involved.
