Kadiogo: Students at the private primary school Les Petits Futes in Saint-Antoine benefited on Friday from an awareness session focused on discipline and citizenship, in the presence of their supervisors, with the aim of strengthening their civic and moral education.
According to Burkina Information Agency, four classes participated in the activity, including grades 2 through 5. Through this initiative led by the school council, the school aims to instill in students essential local values such as solidarity, tolerance, mutual respect, and national unity.
For the facilitator, Aboubacar Nadinga, a member of the executive committee in charge of school discipline, education is not limited to academic performance. It also aims to shape responsible, upright citizens who contribute to the nation. "We don't just want to train brilliant students, but above all, citizens who respect the nation's values," he emphasized.
During the workshop, the students engaged directly with the facilitator on the concepts of solidarity, respect, honesty, decorum, and discipline. "The choice of primary school students is not accidental. It is at this age that the foundations of a strong civic spirit are built," explained Mr. Nadinga.
The students, for their part, were receptive to the message. Several of them stated that they better understood what it means to be a good citizen and promised to apply the advice they received daily, both at school and at home.
The president of the organizing committee, Lamoussa Go Traore, emphasized the importance of parental involvement in this educational process. According to him, civic education cannot be effective without the contribution of all stakeholders in the education system. "We must instill in our children a taste for effort, for work well done, for merit, and for social justice," he stated.
Through initiatives like this, the Les Petits Futes school in Saint-Antoine affirms its commitment to actively working towards the holistic development of children, in order to prepare the responsible citizens of tomorrow.
