Zorgho: On Saturday April 6, 2024, the El Gibbor Kindergarten in Zorgho vividly celebrated the cultural richness of Burkina Faso during its 4th edition of the Traditional Day. Under the presidency of the Head of the basic education district (CCEB) of Zorgho, Raogo Jean Claude Ouédraogo represented and the eminent sponsorship of His Excellency Naba Sonré, customary chief of the village of Goudrin, this event attracted a crowd of parents from students, honorable guests and culture enthusiasts.The students, from nursery to primary school, proudly wore traditional outfits representing a vibrant mosaic of the country's various ethnic groups (Bissa, Dagara, Gourmantché, Lobis, Mossé, etc.). This profusion of colors and patterns provided the backdrop for a series of ballets, drama, stories, songs and dances, highlighting the innate talents of the young students.The event was also marked by a community feast featuring a plethora of traditional Burkinabè dishes, such as 'Gaonré', tô made from red millet, white sor ghum, corn accompanied by various sauces, 'zamnè » and millet beans, 'Zom-koom', bissap… This delicious culinary demonstration delighted the taste buds while reminding us of the importance of preserving ancestral traditions.For the founder of the establishment, Pastor Emmanuel Wangraoua, this day has a special meaning in that it encourages children to take root in their culture from an early age. He expressed his gratitude to the parents for their unwavering support and praised the presence and support of the invited personalities.The traditional chief of Goudrin, sponsor of the event, was delighted to see his image associated with such a laudable initiative. He said the importance of such events in the preservation and enhancement of local cultures.
