Day dedicated to customs and traditions: The High Commissioner of Ganzourgou and the bodies mark the event

As part of the month of Burkinabè cultural heritage and the first edition of the day of customs and traditions celebrated this May 15, 2024, the High Commissioner of Ganzourgou, Mrs. Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, initiated a outing to visit tourist sites in Zorgho. Accompanied by department prefects, directors and heads of provincial services, the delegation discovered two emblematic tourist sites as well as personalities and associations committed to the preservation of local culture.The day began with the discovery of Mount 'Zong-piiga', the highest point of the central plateau, symbol of the cultural richness of the province. Ms. Sorgho/Gouba underlined the importance of promoting the country's cultural heritage and invited the Burkinabè to come and discover these treasures.Subsequently, the delegation went to the royal palace of His Excellency Naba Sanem, customary chief of Zorgho, to convey happy birthday wishes and express the importance of peace in the country. Naba Sanem shared his pride in the institutio n of this day and recalled the importance of traditional rites for the community.The visit continued in the Nabmayaoghin district, where a hybrid tree, producing grapes and figs depending on the period and classified as a tourist heritage of the commune of Zorgho, attracted the attention of visitors. The Buud-yam association of Nabmayaoghin, committed to the preservation of customs and traditions, organized special activities for the day. Its president, Raogo Jean Claude Ouédraogo, stressed the importance of preserving these traditions for the spiritual, political, economic and social development of the country.This day was marked by moments of sharing, discovery and celebration of Burkinabe customs and traditions.
