The Dioula community of 'Kong-Bougou' organized a Quran reading session on the morning of Wednesday, May 15, 2024 in Bobo-Dioulasso. This session is part of the celebration of the first edition of the Day of Customs and Traditions (JCT).The Dioula community of 'Kong-Bougou' (a neighborhood adjoining Dioulassoba) in Bobo-Dioulasso did not stand aside from the celebration of the Day of Customs and Traditions (JTC).For the very first edition, a Quran reading session was organized in front of the palace of the community leader on Wednesday May 15, 2024.According to the community spokesperson, Papindjé Ouattara, the Dioula community welcomed and feels concerned by the decree establishing the JCT.'Being a day dedicated to customs and traditions, we mean by customs what we are used to doing in society,' he said.And speaking of customs, Mr. Ouattara said that the Dioula community has been Islamized since the 8th century, or 14 centuries.'What we have practiced for 14 centuries is the Islamic religion,' ad mitted the community spokesperson.The reading was organized under the direction of the Grand Imam of Kong-Bougou and was assisted by the 'Golo-tigui', the leader of the Dioula community, Karamogo Ouattara.As Bapindjé Ouattara explained, there were two essential readings, a collective reading of the Koran, and another reading devoted to invocations and prayers.For those responsible for the community, everyone in the land of upright men must have a communion of faith, whatever religion they practice.'The main thing is to achieve the country's former tranquility,' said Bapindjé Ouattara.And to insist that the prayers and invocations of the day were mainly made for the authorities, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the volunteers for the defense of the homeland (VDP), for the return of peace and for a good rainy season.Source: Burkina Information Agency
