Ouagadougou: The CEB of Thion concluded the OSCEP 2026 activities this weekend, an event dedicated to highlighting sport and culture as vital components of peace and social cohesion. The closing ceremony was graced by administrative and customary dignitaries, including the President of the special delegation of Bogande, Taugolo Pare, and His Majesty Yempaabou, chief of the canton of Bogande.
According to Burkina Information Agency, a key moment of this edition was the handball final, where Diaka triumphed over Tambiri with a close score of 7 to 6. Across the event, 47 prizes were distributed, with Harga securing the title in men's football and Diaka in women's handball.
At the ceremony, Flora Lankoande, the event's godmother, commended the active participation of the actors and announced 25 training opportunities in kokodonda production for young people. Soumala Lankoande, vice-president representing the PDS of Thion, also lauded the organizers and affirmed the authorities' ongoing support for such initiatives.
Salfo Nana, the head of the CEB of Thion, underscored the importance of sport and culture as means of fostering resilience and unity, particularly in challenging security environments. Organizers expressed their gratitude to partners like the Thion United Community for Development (CoTuDev) and the Defense and Security Forces for their continued support.
Amos Dadioa Guitanga, Managing Director of BPS Protection and the master of ceremonies, enriched the awards for handball and football by providing cash prizes and equipment, including sets of jerseys and balls. This edition of OSCEP 2026 is fondly remembered as a significant occasion for community bonding and promoting unity through educational initiatives.
