Diplomacy: Ambassador Saïdou Maïga presents his letters of credence to the Mauritanian head of state

Ouagadougou: The ambassador of Burkina Faso to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Saïdou Maïga, presented his letters of credence to the Head of State Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani on Tuesday, AIB learned.'His Excellency Mr. Saïdou Maïga, late in the morning of today, May 21, 2024, presented to His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the letters by which His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of the Transition, Head of State of Burkina Faso, accredits him to him,' we read in a press release from the Burkina Faso embassy in Senegal.The same source specifies that earlier in the same morning, the ambassador handed over figurative copies of his letters of credence to the head of Mauritanian diplomacy, Salem Ould Merzoug.According to the Burkina Faso embassy in Senegal, Saïdou Maïga conveyed to his hosts the cordial and fraternal greetings of the highest Burkinabè authorities.He also discussed with them the good prospects for stren gthening cooperation between Burkina Faso and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, in areas of common interest.As a reminder, Saïdou Maïga was appointed on October 25, 2023, extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Burkina Faso to Senegal, with territorial jurisdiction over the Gambia, the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau.He presented his letters of credence to form Senegalese President Macky Sall on December 28, 2023 and to Gambian President Adama Barrow on April 24, 2024Source: Burkina Information Agency
