Zondoma: The Faso Yaar shop in Gourcy officially opened its doors on Thursday, February 26, 2026, through a ceremony presided over by the High Commissioner of the Zondoma province, Aboubacar Sidiki Nab©.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the shop began with an initial supply of 5 tonnes of 25kg sugar cubes, 5 tonnes of 25kg granulated sugar, 100 cartons of Dafani juice, and 100 20-litre cans of oil. The High Commissioner emphasized that the initiative aligns with state policies aiming to provide quality products at reduced costs to the population.

The High Commissioner encouraged the people of Zondoma to support the store, which focuses on locally made products. He believes that consuming local products aids in the development of local industries and the economy.

Mahamadou Zor©, the Regional Director of Commerce for the Yaadga Region, mentioned that additional products like SITEC soap and Malia juice will soon be available, particularly benefiting the population during the fasting period. He stated that this operation is part of a nationwide effort to ensure product availability and price regulation.

Customers expressed their appreciation for the initiative, which evoked memories of the August 1983 revolution for some. The shop, situated at the municipal youth service in Gourcy, was visited by the Minister in charge of industry, trade, and crafts on February 13th.
