Ouagadougou: The National Police, through the Regional Branch of the Anti-Drug Unit (AR-UAD) of Oubri, seized 5,000 tablets of tramadol, with an estimated value of 8.5 million FCFA, and dismantled a network of traffickers specializing in the sale of prohibited products.

According to Burkina Information Agency, members of the network obtained tramadol from a border town in the province of Ganzourgou. They then packaged the tablets in black sachets, which they concealed in clothing items before placing them in black bags.

To evade security forces, traffickers favoured rural tracks and drove at high speed in their vehicles. The products were then transported to Ouagadougou, where they were intended for resale, particularly to a clientele largely composed of young people.

The investigators’ intervention led to the seizure of a Toyota vehicle, two bags containing 5,000 tramadol tablets, and a sum of cash. The value of the seized drugs is estimated at 8.5 million FCFA.

The National Police commend the cooperation of the public, whose information contributed to the dismantling of this network. They urge citizens to remain vigilant and continue reporting suspicious behavior.
