First Harvest at Nionko School Supports Canteen Needs

Sandbondtenga:Students at the Nionko primary school in the commune of Pissila have completed the first harvest of beans from their school field, yielding over two tines. This produce is intended to primarily support the local school canteen.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the school's director, Aristide Joseph Bagbila, emphasized that the harvests will be used to improve the students' diet throughout the academic year. He noted that the initiative is part of an educational approach that combines theoretical agricultural lessons with practical experience.

The school field, covering one hectare, was cultivated and maintained by the students, with assistance from their parents and teachers. This project is seen as a response to President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré's call for food sovereignty, highlighting the importance of self-sufficiency.

The students expressed pride in their achievement. "It is a great joy for us to reap the fruits of our labor," said student Sawadogo Prisca, reflecting the satisfaction shared by many involved in the project.
