As part of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation, the province of Ganzourgou, under the instigation of the High Commissioner, Mrs. Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, has orchestrated since April 3, 2024 a series initiatives aimed at improving the health of the municipality of Zorgho. This movement of collective involvement mobilized various socio-professional layers of the city, thus illustrating a generalized awareness of the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
April 5, 2024 marked a significant step in this process. Indeed, while the members of the special municipal delegation and the municipal agents were working on cleaning up the waste in the premises of the Zorgho town hall, the agents of the high commission and other administrative services of the city, supported by members of the ‘Wendpanga of Zorgho bowling workers’ association and those of the ‘Id song ti yi neere’ association began clearing piles of rubbish around the high commission.
This cleanliness day
follows a series of similar initiatives, started on April 3, 2024 by traders via their association and the provincial council of the informal economy. The latter began the process by cleaning the large market of Zorgho and its surroundings. Then, students from primary and secondary schools contributed by clearing their respective schools of their waste. Health workers also responded to the call on April 4 by cleaning the Health Center with surgical branch (CMA) and the urban Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) of Zorgho.
Madam High Commissioner warmly welcomed the exemplary mobilization of the various actors involved in this cleanliness campaign. She expressed the wish that such activities become regular, thus allowing each citizen to live in a healthy and preserved environment.
As part of these sanitation days, the provincial department in charge of the environment took the opportunity to raise participants’ awareness of the different types of waste, their consequences on the environment and the impo
rtance of the opportunities they present in terms of sustainable waste management.
These activities will continue on Saturday April 6 with the coordination of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), the provincial and municipal youth councils and the coordination of women who have undertaken to clean the surroundings of National Road 4 in the town of Zorgho .
In summary, these sanitation days in Zorgho demonstrate a collective desire to promote a cleaner and healthier environment, thus reflecting the civic and patriotic commitment of the local community towards the well-being of all.
