Gourma Province Celebrates Patriotism with Youth Engagement Ceremony

Gourma: The Secretary General of the Goulmou Province, Botetessan Bonou, representing the Governor, called on the young people who participated in the 2nd edition of the mandatory patriotic immersion on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, to translate into their daily lives the values of discipline, civic-mindedness, and patriotism acquired during their training.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the flag-raising ceremony was attended by administrative, military, paramilitary, customary, and religious authorities, as well as young people who recently completed their mandatory patriotic immersion. The Secretary General of the Gourma province, Botetessan Bonou, emphasized the civic and patriotic significance of the event, which he described as a reaffirmation of citizens' attachment to the Nation and republican values.

Addressing the conscripts, Bonou urged them to embody the lessons learned during their immersion in their daily behavior, particularly in terms of discipline, civic-mindedness, patriotism, and sense of duty. He encouraged the young people to become ambassadors of civic duty and patriotism, highlighting the importance of setting an example and valuing diligence.

Three days after completing their immersion, the young participants expressed their commitment by attending the republican ceremony. Faouziatou Yarga, a participant in the patriotic immersion, described the flag-raising as an act reflecting the honor, integrity, and peace aspirations of Burkina Faso. She emphasized the importance of respecting and valuing the country's colors.

Isae Pacr, a conscript who participated despite his disability, viewed his presence as a duty to the Nation. He stressed the importance of responding to the Nation's calls, asserting that the status of 'called up' denotes readiness to serve. Pacr also highlighted the need to overcome self-imposed limitations regarding disability, advocating for a mindset of freedom.

Pacr proudly participated in the patriotic immersion, fully committing to the training, which he regards as a civic duty. His engagement, alongside the strong mobilization of young people at the ceremony, reflects a collective desire to support national leaders and contribute to the development of Burkina Faso.
