Bankui: The governor of the Bankui and Sourou regions, Babo Pierre Bassinga, has called for strict adherence to the rules relating to the fight against noise pollution in order to preserve the peace and quiet of the population.

According to Burkina Information Agency, an administrative statement dated June 9, 2026, emphasized that excessive noise emissions pose a threat to public peace and the well-being of citizens. To strengthen enforcement of regulations, the governor has instructed bar and restaurant owners to cease all music playing after 11 p.m. Violators will face confiscation of their equipment and penalties as stipulated by law.

The statement also highlights that noise pollution is not tolerated during the day when it disturbs the neighborhood or compromises public order. Exceptions may nevertheless be granted on the occasion of specific events, including national holidays, cultural events, or certain celebrations of an exceptional nature.

The governor finally urged the forces in charge of control to ensure compliance with this measure and invited the population to contribute to the preservation of a peaceful living environment, in the spirit of the slogan: “For order and discipline, I pledge”.
