Guiriko: The Secretary General of the Guiriko region, Comrade Souleymane Nakanabo, representing the Governor, presided over the official launch workshop of the Project to Support the Improvement of Incomes for the Socio-Economic Empowerment of Youth and Women (PARAS/JF) in the Guiriko and Bankui/Sourou regions in Bobo-Dioulasso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Secretary General Souleymane Nakanabo stated that this project was designed to address the actual needs of the population, with a focus on sustainably increasing productivity, promoting climate-resilient practices, and strengthening the capacities of local actors.

The project is implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and is a result of a participatory process involving stakeholders at both central and decentralized levels to meet the real needs of the beneficiary populations. The FAO representative in Burkina Faso, Mr. Ernest Mose Mushekuru, expressed his approval of the project’s launch and encouraged stakeholders to embrace their responsibilities for its success.

The project, financed by Austrian cooperation with a budget of 1.8 million euros, will run over three years from December 2025 to November 2028. It aims to enhance the socio-economic empowerment of youth and women by sustainably improving agricultural productivity, providing better access to inputs and markets, and increasing control over income generated by production activities.
