Bobo-Dioulasso: The president of the special delegation of the commune of Bobo-Dioulasso, Laurent Koutougou Kontogom, in the company of security and social action agents exchanged with beggar women nationals of a country foreigner, Saturday April 13, 2024 in Bobo-Dioulasso.After the death of a child of foreign nationality drowned in a well near the Houet marsh, last Tuesday, April 9, the commune of Bobo-Dioulasso decided to clear them from the streets of the city.They were given a three-day ultimatum which expires today to vacate major intersections to avoid such an unfortunate event.After this deadline, the municipal authority has confided that 'strong' measures will be taken to enforce the decision.But before the end of this ultimatum, the President of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Bobo-Dioulasso, Laurent Koutougou Kontogom, in collaboration with the leaders of this foreign community residing in Bobo-Dioulasso, spoke with the first concerned on Saturday April 13, 2024 to explain to them the importance of this decision.According to the PDS, the phenomenon of begging has become very worrying in the city of Bobo-Dioulasso, because the presence of these indigents in the streets disrupts traffic and sometimes creates accidents.Listening to him, it was after consultation with all the structures of Bobo-Dioulasso, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and social action services that the decision was taken to cease all begging activities. in the town of Bobo-Dioulasso.For the regional director of solidarity, humanitarian action, national reconciliation, gender and family of Hauts-Bassins, Wendkuni Benjamin Ouédraogo, this practice puts their lives as well as that of their children in danger.According to him, his services work so that these women can carry out other activities that are more rewarding and dignified than begging.Ouédraogo regrets that no woman from this community, despite these support efforts, had registered apart from internally displaced women.The vice-president of the said community of the Hauts-Bassins region Gabo Djibo expressed his gratitude to the authorities for these efforts.The president of the special delegation hoped that the message would get across, because a strong measure will be used at the end of this period which ends this Tuesday, April 16, 2024.Source: Burkina Information Agency
