Kenedougou: The High Commissioner of the Kenedougou province, Sadou Sakira, asserted during the monthly flag-raising ceremony in Orodara, organized as part of the 3rd edition of the Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizen Participation (JEPPC), that "every act of local consumption contributes to weakening the mechanisms of economic domination."
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony revolved around the theme 'Food Sovereignty and Economic Patriotism: Together, let us cultivate our dignity through local production and consumption,' with the slogan 'My plate, my pride.' The President of the Orodara High Court, Kani Boni, praised the participants for their mobilization and highlighted the missions and operations of his jurisdiction.
Sadou Sakira conveyed a message from the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, emphasizing that food sovereignty is central to the fight for national independence. The President called for a collective mobilization against foreign dependence, urging citizens to adopt 'buying local' as a daily practice. He stated that "produce what we consume, process what we produce, and consume what we process" forms the basis of a sovereign economy.
The High Commissioner encouraged public administrations, schools, and households to prioritize local food in canteens and on tables, underscoring that choosing national dignity requires persistent effort and a strong collective commitment.
