Ouagadougou: Authorities and business stakeholders convened at the Kindi reception hall to discuss strategies for boosting the municipality's revenue. The meeting, held on Tuesday, August 4, was attended by both administrative authorities and commercial actors.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting was chaired by Ahmed Yves Sanou, president of the special delegation of the municipality, with assistance from tax collector Rosine Kadeba. The primary objective was to explore new financial resources to support the community's operational costs. The meeting was characterized by candid discussions, with Sanou acknowledging the large turnout despite the inclement weather. He highlighted the municipality's financial struggles, noting that a lack of resources hampers development missions.

In response to the financial challenges, several measures were agreed upon in collaboration with professional organizations. Local beverage producers, specifically those producing dolo, will contribute 1,000 FCFA monthly. A census will soon be conducted to register all women involved in the sector. Transport stakeholders confirmed the continuation of the parking tax, with a consensus to set the monthly fee at 5,000 FCFA per vehicle.

Additionally, taxes for small market stalls will see a 100% increase. Discussions also touched on incivility and environmental issues, particularly focusing on sand collectors whose activities have led to the deterioration of infrastructure. Offenders will face fines ranging from 5,000 to 50,000 FCFA.

Participants were also updated on the recent UNESCO camp in the municipality, which featured community activities and civic engagements. The meeting concluded with mutual expressions of gratitude and encouragement between the administration and community stakeholders.
