Komondjari: Launch of Civic and Patriotic Education Activities in Gayri, Sirba Region

Ouagadougou: The High Commissioner of the province of Komondjari, Mr. Valentin Gnanou, presided on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the provincial high school of Gayri, over the meeting to launch civic and patriotic education (ECP) activities for the benefit of students in the intermediate classes of secondary schools in the province. He was joined by principals and directors from three local educational institutions, along with representatives from the National Police and the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR).

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting aimed to inform students about the planned activities within the ECP program, which emphasizes promoting civic-mindedness, discipline, and republican values in schools. The ECP activities, scheduled from January 10 to February 14, 2026, will focus exclusively on students in intermediate classes of high schools and colleges.

The activities will consist of theoretical modules and close-order drill sessions, conducted by the National Police, the BIR, and health workers. Key themes include fighting drug use, preventing violence and insecurity in schools, protecting school infrastructure, and promoting solidarity and civic values.

In his address, High Commissioner Valentin Gnanou acknowledged the dedication of the defense and security forces, as well as the technical services involved in executing the program. He urged students to exhibit responsible behaviors and become role models of civic responsibility in their schools and communities. Mr. Gnanou emphasized that civic and patriotic education is vital for fostering social cohesion and preparing youth to fulfill their national duties.

This initiative aligns with the national effort to promote civic values and resilience in response to the country's security challenges.
