Koosin: A Collective Prayer to Strengthen Peace and Social Cohesion

Canton: Chief Dramane Sangare, at the initiative of the local community watch group and the Patriotic Movement for Development (MPD) of the Sourou region, presided over a prayer session on Thursday, April 2, 2026. The event brought together traditional and religious communities from the area around a shared ideal of peace, solidarity, and living together.

According to Burkina Information Agency, after the prayer, religious leaders beseeched the Almighty for His grace and protection so that the people could go about their business. The religious leaders, in turn, offered blessings to all the communities living in the commune. Prayers were also offered in tribute to the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), for the return of stability to the area.

The canton chief commended the strong mobilization of the population for this noble cause and expressed his hope for a strengthening of relations between the two movements based on mutual respect. Recognizing that they share the same objectives, the chief urged them to work together more effectively to meet the challenges facing the commune. He concluded his remarks by requesting the population's support for future initiatives.
