Ouagadougou: The Minister of Security, Divisional Police Commissioner Mahamadou Sana, launched the regional reforestation campaign for Nakamb in Pouytenga, in conjunction with the regional celebration of the 8th edition of the National Tree Day (JNA). The event was held under the theme "My institution, my grove."

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was organized under the patronage of the Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries, Yacouba Zabr Gouba, and his technical advisor Jean Baptiste Kabor. The event featured the planting of 1,500 plants of 21 species of medicinal plants on a two-hectare site meant to host a medicinal grove in Pouytenga.

The President of the special delegation of the commune of Pouytenga, Beno®t Timtor, expressed the commune's commitment to balancing economic development with environmental preservation. He emphasized the initiative's alignment with the Head of State's vision for Burkina Faso's health sovereignty, stating that planting a tree is an investment in the future.

The head of the municipality committed to rallying the active forces of Pouytenga to ensure the grove's sustainability. Timtor urged the population, especially the youth, to assist the departmental Water and Forestry service in safeguarding the grove from stray animals and maintaining it through regular watering.

Governor of the Nakamb region, Yy Abraham Somdo, highlighted the initiative's importance in addressing the environmental challenges of Pouytenga, a rapidly growing city. Somdo noted that the operation aims to restore the local ecosystem by creating a green lung for the city and set a target of a 90% success rate for the grove's sustainability.

Jean Baptiste Kabor, representing the Minister in charge of Energy, reaffirmed his department's commitment to environmental protection. He explained that the link between the energy, mining sectors, and the creation of the grove is deeply interconnected due to their shared responsibility toward the earth's resources.

Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana, emphasized the new approach to improving the survival rate of planted trees. He noted past challenges with low survival rates and stressed the importance of planting useful trees through the creation of groves to combat deforestation effectively.
