The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Quarries, in collaboration with the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry, organized in Koudougou, Friday June 21, 2024, an information meeting on the content in the mining sector for the benefit of local investors, in particular economic operators, training centers, and representatives of mining companies in the region.Allowing local investors to appropriate the regulatory texts in force in order to be able to play their part for inclusive growth, in the service of the economic and social development of Burkina Faso, such is the objective pursued by the Koudougou meeting.Thus, five regulatory texts were presented to the participants: the national strategy for local content in the mining sector; the implementing texts of the Mining Code relating to local content; regulations on the nomenclature of positions and jobs; standards and requirements of mining companies and business opportunities for mining company suppliers; connecting national suppliers with mining compani es.According to the regional director in charge of Central-West Mines, Éric Beré, with twelve industrial mines in operation in 2023, for a contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 13.2%, the sector's impact on the rest of the economy remain below expectations.It is to reverse this trend and promote the diversification of the economy that the government of Burkina Faso adopted public policies and carried out reforms on the institutional, legislative and regulatory levels in order to increase the impact of the sector on the rest of the economy, he justified.The representative of the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry, François 1er Yaméogo, expressed his gratitude to the government for the efforts to promote the local supply of goods and services to mines.For him, these regulatory texts, which were long awaited, inaugurate the era of better connection between the mining sector and the rest of the national economy.He invited all businessmen to seize this opportunity to better understan d the innovations of this new system.Source: Burkina Information Agency
