Ziniar©: The traditional Naab Kiougou festival, celebrated in the village of Koassanga, in the commune of Ziniar©, is gaining in popularity and is increasingly becoming a major cultural and festive event. Perpetuated for generations as the rainy season approaches, Naab Kiougou is a customary rite organized to pray for a bountiful harvest. Every year, the people of the Koassanga canton gather for nearly a week to celebrate their traditional values. Beyond its ritualistic nature, the event is attracting a growing number of festival-goers, contributing to its evolution into a form of cultural festival.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Marie-Fran§oise Zoungrana, a native of the village who returned especially for the occasion, stated that it is essential to perpetuate this practice in order to allow the younger generation to better understand their roots and strengthen their connection to their heritage. The highlight of the festivities took place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, with the ceremony of greetings and the presentation of best wishes to His Majesty Naaba Koanga, Chief of Koassanga. Administrative authorities, local dignitaries, and numerous guests traveled to the royal court for the occasion.

According to the traditional chief, the profound meaning of this celebration aims to strengthen ties between communities and promote living together within the canton. "Beyond the worship and sacrifices, we want the mixing of populations and, above all, to promote peace," he declared. For this final day of festivities, people from all over the canton offered their greetings and blessings to the chief. The Naab Kiougou festival also featured various activities, including the traditional market street, sporting competitions (races and football), and cultural performances.
