Nahouri/Water and forests: 249 trainees from the special intervention unit ready for the reconquest of the territory

The Minister of the Environment, Water and Sanitation, Roger Barro, chaired this September 12, 2023 at Camp Thomas Sankara in Pô, the end of training ceremony for 249 trainees from the Special water and forest intervention unit in forest intervention techniques and procedures.

The Minister of the Environment had at his side, the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel Major Célestin Simporé and executives from the Ministry of the Environment.

He praised the highest authorities for the operationalization of this unit.

“This unit will play its part in the reconquest of the national territory launched by the Head of State. He invited the trainees to use the knowledge acquired only within the framework of the service,” said the Minister in charge of the Environment.

According to the commander of the Commando Training and Special Operations Training Center (CEC-FOS) of Pô, Captain Patrick A. Bado, this course follows the desire of the military hierarchy to support the other forces engaged in the fight against the terrorist hydra by hardening and especially the teaching of very effective endogenous techniques of their elements.

For him, it is an honor for him and his men to benefit the Ministry of the Environment, the very first promotion of the special intervention unit for water and forests.

Captain Bado praised the command for the trust placed in the center to ensure this training despite their multiple tasks.

“These trainees are capable of defending forest areas,” he said.

The representative of the trainees, Ismaïla Arémo, while welcoming the initiative, affirmed that he and his comrades learned a lot from their brothers in arms during the 60 days of training.

He reassured the Commander and the Ministry of Environment of their commitment to defend and protect natural resources even at the risk of their lives.

A presentation of certificates to the 20 best trainees, demonstrations and a tree planting ended the ceremony.

The center initially received 250 trainees, 6 of whom were deemed unfit and replaced by 5 others, giving a total of 249 trainees.
