The High Commissioner of the province of Namentenga, Adama Conseiga opened on Tuesday May 14, 2024 in Boulsa, the municipal book week initiated by the Center for Public Reading and Cultural Animation (CELPAC). The ceremony took place in the presence of the godfather, Nazindngounba Félix Kaboré, the president of the Nayinéré Association for the Development of Namentenga (ANDN) students and administrative authorities.The municipal book week which takes place from May 14 to 18 in Boulsa, in the Center-North region, plans several activities.These are, among others, drawing competitions, reading competitions, poetry, a conference on school dropout, a film screening, board games.'Despite the efforts made by partners and librarians in promoting books and reading, it is clear that screens have taken over from books. People in general and students in particular no longer read,' argued the main facilitator of CELPAC, Gérard Rapdamnaba.According to Mr. Rapdamnaba, this initiative aims to give the book its import ance in society, through cultural and sporting activities.He also invited parents to set an example and encourage their children to read by enrolling them in reading centers.Seizing the opportunity, the sponsor of the ceremony, Nazindngounba Félix Kaboré specified that the telephone or television can be a valuable reading channel.The High Commissioner, Adama Conseiga congratulated the CELPAC facilitators for their dynamism and the partners for their support.This opening ceremony was marked by the performance of the anthems of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger by students from the Boulsa provincial high school.At the end of the activities, the sponsor presented a set of books for the benefit of CELPAC users.Source: Burkina Information Agency
