Ouagadougou: The Provincial Directorate of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF) of Passor organized an awards ceremony on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in Yako to honor the best students and teachers of the 2026 session of the Primary School Certificate (CEP).
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony, which celebrated educational excellence, was presided over by the High Commissioner of Passor, Daouda Sangar, and was blessed by His Majesty Naaba Guiguemd of Yako. The event was sponsored by Me Samuel Bougoum and co-sponsored by Naaba Saaga of Pl¨gtanga, with several administrative, military, and paramilitary authorities, customary leaders, and educational actors in attendance.
Baloum Naaba, the representative of His Majesty Naaba Djigu¨md Dima of Yako, commended the teachers for their dedication and highlighted the noble mission they undertake. Representing the best students, Windinmi Bamogo expressed gratitude to the teachers for their sacrifices and encouraged his peers to persevere in their educational pursuits. Bamogo also thanked the Provincial Director of DPEPPNF, Mahamoudou Kiogo, for organizing the event dedicated to academic excellence.
In his address, Provincial Director Kiogo praised the commitment of teachers and reviewed the excellent results achieved in the 2026 session. He emphasized the remarkable progress in the province, attributing it to the collective efforts of teachers, supervisors, and educational stakeholders. Regional directors from Yaadga and Zondoma also lauded the provincial directorate of Passor for its achievements and the initiative to celebrate academic excellence.
Mr. Samuel Bougoum, the ceremony's patron, announced that the tuition fees for the 14 top graduates for the 2026-2027 school year would be covered. The High Commissioner of Passor Province acknowledged these achievements and urged continued efforts to maintain the standard of excellence.
The awards ceremony featured the presentation of certificates of recognition to notable supporters of academic excellence, including His Majesty Naaba Djigu¨md Dima of Yako, represented by Baloum Naaba, and Naaba Saaga of Pl¨gtanga. Fifteen primary school teachers with a 100% pass rate and thirteen students with outstanding averages were rewarded with bicycles, school kits, and transport allowances.
The event also celebrated sports as a means of unity and self-improvement, with the Yako II CEB winning the Basic Education Districts (CEB) football tournament. Notable mentions included Oumou-Hair Dianda, the top student in the Franco-Arabic primary exam, and outstanding teacher Cline Bourgou, who received a motorcycle and a letter of commendation.
Through this recognition day, Passor's provincial directorate reaffirms its dedication to fostering a culture of excellence, valuing merit, and encouraging continued efforts towards a more efficient educational system.
