Ouagadougou: The Noaka Naaba Saaa of the commune of Pissila, in the province of Sandbontenga within the Kuils region, has donated more than 300 plants to the town hall of the 10th district of Ouagadougou. This donation aims to contribute to reforestation efforts and improve living conditions for the local population.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the donation consists of fruit trees and medicinal species, which are intended to be planted in public spaces and within residents' homes. This initiative supports the municipality's landscaping efforts and encourages a healthier environment for citizens. The donor's representative, ric Oudraogo, emphasized that this gesture aligns with the call from the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor, urging citizens to plant trees to restore vegetation cover and combat climate change.
Mr. Oudraogo noted that this donation marks the beginning of a series of similar actions that will eventually extend to other municipalities across the country. The initiative not only provides material support but also aims to raise awareness about environmental preservation through reforestation and tree maintenance efforts.
The President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of District 10, Pingdoubwaoga Augustin Kabor, expressed gratitude for this civic-minded gesture. He highlighted the benefits provided by trees, such as shade, fruit production, environmental protection, and traditional medicinal uses. Some of the donated plants will be planted in the town hall's grove to enhance the institution's plant heritage, while others will be distributed to district residents for planting at their homes.
Young leader Isma«l Sawadogo supported the initiative, emphasizing the need for citizen mobilization in favor of environmental protection. He noted the symbolic significance of the donation coming from a traditional authority, which upholds traditional values and respect for nature. Sawadogo expressed hope that this example would inspire others to engage in reforestation efforts, contributing sustainably to improved living conditions and the restoration of Burkina Faso's vegetation cover.
