Passore: The first edition of the Passore Provincial Director of Secondary, Vocational and Technical Education (DPESFPT) Cup was officially launched on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Oumarou Kanazoe Stadium in Yako. The opening match of the competition resulted in a victory for the Yako Sector 2 CEG (General Education College) against the La Fraternite Private High School team, with the winner going to penalties 3-1.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event gathered various secondary schools of Passore, actors of secondary education, and students at the Oumarou Kanazoe stadium in Yako to celebrate the inauguration of the cup. The opening ceremony featured performances by artists and a parade of establishments from the nine municipalities of the province.
The event, themed "School sport in Passore: vector of social cohesion, promotion of culture and talents," is sponsored by the ambassador of sports at the Presidency of Faso, Burkinabe international Charles Kabore. The competition aligns with the goal of building a sporting school youth that reflects the ideals of the progressive and popular Revolution, addressing the country's current challenges.
The inaugural match was played in two 30-minute periods, with the General Education College (CEG) of sector n°2 facing off against the private high school La Fraternite. The match concluded in a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation. In the penalty shootout, CEG Sector 2 emerged victorious, defeating La Fraternite Private High School by scoring 3 successful penalties to 1.
Ibrahim Kouraogo, chairman of the organizing committee, emphasized that the Provincial Director's Cup aims to develop students beyond the classroom and highlight their football talents. He encouraged participants to prioritize fair play throughout the competition.
Mimtiri Oualbeogo, the Provincial Director of Secondary Education, Technical and Vocational Training (DPESFPT) of Passore and promoter of the cup, expressed gratitude to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) for their efforts in maintaining peace in the province. Oualbeogo also acknowledged the strong participation of establishments, customary and religious authorities, provincial directors, heads of service, and the population of Yako.
For this inaugural edition, a total of 31 teams from the nine municipalities of the province are participating in the DPESFPT Passore cup.
