Ramongo: The municipality of Ramongo took a decisive step in its territorial planning process by organizing a workshop on Friday, July 3, to review and amend its Land Use Plan (POS). The development of the POS, a strategic document, is to frame the use of communal space and to guide its development until 2045.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the work was conducted by the head of the Urban Planning department at the Directorate General of Urban Planning, Infrastructure Development and Topography (DGUVT), Alaye Sidibe, with the support of the person in charge of monitoring and evaluation of the Project to Support the Strengthening of Land and Mining Management (PARGFM) at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Adama Sawadogo. This project is the one that financed the development of the POS of Ramongo, the construction of the infrastructure intended for the Rural Land Service of the municipality as well as several other structuring investments.
The discussions took place under the technical supervision of the representative of the CAURI/SARL consortium, Jean Kabore. At the opening of the workshop, the PDS welcomed the strong mobilization of the participants, who were none other than the members of the special municipal delegation, before inviting them to examine the document with rigor and responsibility. For her, the Local Urban Development Plan (PLU) is a major reference document that will guide the spatial organization of the municipality for the next two decades. She emphasized the need to integrate all relevant observations and proposed amendments in order to produce a consensual, realistic document that reflects Ramongo's development ambitions.
Developed from field studies, surveys, community consultations, and technical analyses, the Land Use Plan defines the rules for allocating and using space, identifies residential areas, economic activities, public facilities, environmental protection zones, and land reserves. Its aim is to control urban sprawl, prevent land disputes, and promote harmonious and sustainable development of the municipality.
Following the discussions, the various observations made by the participants will be incorporated into the final report before its adoption. Once approved, the Local Land Use Plan (POS) will serve as a valuable decision-making tool for the municipal authorities, ensuring more rational land management and balanced development of Ramongo for the benefit of present and future generations.
