R©o: An Association Equips Market Gardeners in Sandi© to Strengthen Food Security

R©o: The Andal and Pinal Association handed over kits to market gardeners in the village of Sandi© in R©o on Thursday, April 9, to boost their production, AIB observed.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative, led by the Andal and Pinal Association (A and P), aims to sustainably transform the local nutritional landscape through the establishment of a community garden. Producers received complete kits including wheelbarrows, watering cans, sprayers and agricultural tools, a variety of seeds (lettuce, moringa, okra, onion, amaranth, bean leaves), and fencing materials to secure the plots.

This allocation is part of the "Accelerating Resilient Food Systems in Africa" (ARFSA) project. Deployed in four regions of Burkina Faso, including Nando, this program aims to improve living conditions by building food systems capable of withstanding climatic and economic shocks.

The ceremony was presided over by the High Commissioner of the Sangui© province, Talari Germaine Ouoba. She praised the collaborative efforts between Andal and Pinal and the NGO Asmade, emphasizing that this intervention aligns perfectly with the vision of food sovereignty championed by the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor©.

Ms. Ouoba urged the beneficiaries to rigorously maintain the equipment to ensure the sustainability of the partners' support. The president of the R©o special delegation, Issaka Cindy Zagr©, also welcomed this support, which reinforces national efforts.

In its operational phase, the nutritional component managed by the Andal and Pinal Association emphasizes crop diversification.

In Sandi©, for this second year of implementation, a 625 m² site has been developed. "This initiative will significantly contribute to strengthening the technical capacities of the population and to the development of income-generating activities," stated Issiaka Ba, program officer for the A and P Association.

As for Ms. Nana Boly Awa, also a member of the Board of Directors of the said association, she invited the villagers to take ownership of the tool to break the cycle of food insecurity.

The spokesperson for the beneficiaries, Hyacinthe Bagoro, expressed satisfaction: "It is a great joy to see our request taken into account."

By receiving this equipment, the producers of Sandi© have committed to boosting their yields to improve the nutritional health of their respective households and even other households in the region.
