Reo: The Place de la Nation in Reo was the scene of an exceptional gathering this Saturday, where the National Coordination of Citizen Watch Associations (CNAVC), provincial section of Sanguie, organized a large meeting in support of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore. Under a radiant sun, thousands of participants from the ten communes of the Sanguie province displayed an impressive mobilization, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to the ongoing 'Progressive and Popular Revolution'.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event brought together several prominent figures from Sanguie, including the President of the AES Commission, Bassolma Bazie, and the Minister of Justice, Edasso Rodrigues Bayala. Their speeches emphasized the need for young people and the entire population to support Captain Traore's leadership. The meeting also saw the participation of traditional, religious, military, and paramilitary authorities, highlighting the inclusive nature of the initiative.
The provincial coordinator of the Presidential Initiative for Community Development, Basile Bationo, welcomed the massive turnout of participants, seeing it as a strong signal of support for the head of state. He recalled that Captain Traore's seizure of power was not motivated by ambition, but by the desire to save a country on the brink of collapse. Bationo also emphasized that the Revolution aims to rebuild Burkinabe society by fighting imperialism, establishing virtuous governance, and ensuring the country's sovereignty. His speech concluded with a call for unity, an essential bulwark to overcome current challenges, paraphrasing historian Joseph Ki-Zerbo: "Unite or perish."
The speeches of Bassolma Bazie and Edasso Rodrigues Bayala were particularly striking. Justice Minister Edasso Bayala expressed his gratitude for the mobilization, recalling that this was not the first time the province had shown solidarity. He cited previous rallies and financial contributions to the Patriotic Support Fund as demonstrating the continued commitment of the people of Sanguie. Minister Bayala emphasized the importance of this meeting to pay tribute to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), who "brave death every day" to ensure the security of the people. He explained that the "Progressive and Popular Revolution" is a social transformation involving the population at the grassroots level to achieve development goals.
The sponsors' representative, Jean Bosco Bazie, urged young people to support the transition leader, recognizing the sacrifices made by him and his entire team. He addressed those who "become an obstacle" to the country, warning that they will "ignite," a metaphor underscoring the determination to tolerate no betrayal. He urged young people to show commitment and not to follow those who oppose the Revolution.
The speeches were interspersed with musical interludes and prayers from traditional and religious leaders, who reaffirmed that the president is a "gift from God." In conclusion, the great meeting in Reo not only reaffirmed Sanguie's support for the "Progressive and Popular Revolution" but was also a call for unity, sacrifice, and civic engagement. A fundraiser raised 406,150 francs to support the FDS and VDP, along with food and military shoes donations.
