Silly Commits to Local Consumption for Food Sovereignty

Silly: The Commune of Silly held its traditional flag-raising ceremony on Wednesday at the town hall. The ceremony saw a large turnout of community leaders, students, and representatives from various socio-professional groups in the commune, who came to hear the message from the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, calling for awareness of the harmful effects of imperialism.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the participants gathered at the town hall at 7:15 a.m. and, after singing the national anthem in the Moore language, listened to the message from the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore. The message was read in its entirety by the President of the Special Municipal Delegation. In his address, the President urged the people of Burkina Faso to become aware of the dependence on imported food and consumer goods, which he linked to imperialism, and advocated for a shift towards local production and consumption.

The Prefect of Silly, Christophe Bonkoungou, supported this vision by urging residents to embrace and disseminate the President's message within the community. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing local production, being mindful of consumption, and promoting locally made fabrics. The departmental authority called for a patriotic awakening and encouraged the population to increase their efforts in productive activities while being discerning in their consumption habits to contribute to building the "new Burkinabe."

The ceremony concluded with encouraging words for students and teachers on the resumption of classes for the final term of the school year and a call for unity in local development efforts.
