Dokuy: The sesame harvest took place this Saturday, November 9, 2025, in the field belonging to the Soum Public Primary School, in the Dokuy Basic Education District (CEB). The headmaster expected to harvest four to five 100 kg sacks of sesame. The atmosphere is one of collective work, early this Saturday, November 9, 2025. The students, parents, and teachers of the school have mobilized for this community activity. Equipped with sickles and baskets, the men worked side by side, a symbol of commitment and solidarity around the school grounds.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the director of the Soum public primary school, Yambangba Lare, explained that this initiative follows the implementation of the presidential program for a quality school, through the introduction of the school field. "As soon as I learned of this initiative during the holidays, I immediately decided to implement it. Thanks to the understanding and good collaboration with the parents of students, everything went smoothly," confirmed Mr. Lare.
The school now has a two-hectare area dedicated to the school grounds. "This year we cultivated sesame. Despite the lack of fertilizer which slowed production," he said. According to Yambangba Lare, he hopes to harvest between four and five 100 kg bags of sesame. "The initiative must be supported by the authorities with substantial support in agricultural inputs to increase yields," argued the director of the Soum public primary school. He indicated that this fundraising will contribute to financing the activities of the school council office for the benefit of the students.
