Koosin: The High Commissioner of Koosin province, Noufo Dembele, officiated the commencement of a delayed regional polio vaccination campaign at the Communal Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) 2. This initiative, set to immunize 220,000 children, is coupled with the introduction of vitamin A.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the local polio vaccination days aim to bolster children's immunity in regions beset by security challenges, thereby preventing the onset of the disease. The campaign also includes vitamin A supplementation and targets health districts within the Bankui and Sourou regions, specifically Tougan, Solenzo, and Nouna.
Dr. Didier Dipama, the regional health director for the Bankui and Sourou regions, emphasized the urgency of this effort, citing the security situation as a catalyst for disease spread. The vaccination targets children aged 0 to 59 months for polio and those aged 3 to 59 months for vitamin A supplementation.
The regional health director called on the local population to support the vaccination agents' efforts by facilitating their access to various community locations, including places of worship, markets, and homes.
High Commissioner Noufo Dembele, representing the region's governor, expressed gratitude to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) for their dedication to the community's welfare. The ceremony concluded with a vaccination session for the attending administrative authorities.
