Burkina: The dismissal of the Malian Prime Minister and the delivery of electric vehicles to the government on the daily agenda: This Thursday’s publications echo the delivery of electric vehicles to members of the government and the dismissal of Malian Prime Minister Choguel Maïga.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the chief of staff of the President of Faso, Captain Anderson Médah, handed over electric vehicles on Wednesday on behalf of the head of state to the minister in charge of the economy for use by members of the government. The initiative, highlighted by the state daily Sidwaya, is seen as a measure to reduce the state’s cost of living.
The oldest private daily, L’Observateur Paalga, provided further details, noting that these vehicles were donated free of charge to the government by Li Yubao, the chairman and CEO of Yunhong International Group. The donation, valued at over a billion by the company, comprises 53 vehicles, each with a range of 500 km, as reported by the private newspaper Le
Pays.
Separately, the newspapers also covered the resignation of Malian Prime Minister Choguel Maïga and his government. A presidential decree signed on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, led to this development. According to Sidwaya, the decision by Malian president General Assimi Goïta comes in response to recent statements by Maïga, who claimed he was being bypassed in state affairs.
L’Observateur Paalga reported that following these remarks, there was a significant public reaction, with numerous government supporters taking to the streets demanding Maïga’s resignation, labeling him a traitor.
