Bobo-Dioulasso: The Minister of National Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages, Jacques Sosthène Dingara, chaired the closing of the activities of the 2nd Joint Monitoring Mission (MCS) of Strategic plan for the development of basic and secondary education (PSDEBS), Friday May 24, 2024 in Bobo-Dioulasso.In its desire to have a basic education and secondary education system that is democratic, efficient, resilient and contributes to the training of responsible citizens, the Burkinabè government has put in place a strategic plan for the development of basic education and of secondary education (PSDEBS ) 2021-2025.After its execution in 2023, stakeholders from the world of education, gathered within the 2nd Joint Monitoring Mission (MCS), were in conclave from May 20 to 24, 2024 in Bobo-Dioulasso, to monitor the evolution of the basic education sub-sector and basic education.The closing of these activities was chaired by the Minister of National Education, Literacy and the Promotion o f National Languages, Jacques Sosthène Dingara.During these five days of work, the technical and financial assessment of the 2023 activities and financing by strategic axis as well as the monitoring of the PSDEBS indicators was taken into account, to assess all the results obtained and to formulate guidelines for the efficient implementation of the PSDEBS.According to the minister, the joint monitoring mission is an important framework for the ministry in charge of national education.'This mission, which brought together all the stakeholders involved in the field of education, the government, technical and financial partners, NGOs, associations and unions, made it possible to take stock of the implementation of this strategy, to discuss concerns and to make projections for the future,' he underlined.Minister Jacques Sosthène Dingara was delighted with this mission and the results achieved.'We welcome the fact that all stakeholders remain standing despite the situation so that education is provided t o all children,' he said.For the permanent secretary of the PSDEBS, Bonaventure Segda, beyond the interesting results that were achieved, the main challenges of the education system were the subject of examination during this monitoring mission.Thus, to help meet the challenge and to improve the performance of the national education system, a certain number of recommendations have been formulated.This, Bonaventure Segda said, involves reintegrating more internally displaced children and students into the education system.'It was also recommended to improve communication around the implementation of sub-sectoral policy and to improve the absorption of financial resources allocated to education,' mentioned the permanent secretary of PSDEBS.Listening to him, other reflections were also carried out to see how to ensure better monitoring of students who are affected by insecurity in private educational establishments.As for the Head of the Technical and Financial Partners (PTF), Céleste Staley, she pra ised the quality of the results achieved and reaffirmed the commitment of the PTF to support Burkina Faso in the education sector.'We are satisfied with the results. As PTF, we will support the Ministry of Education to implement the recommendations to ensure that every child in Burkina Faso can have access to quality education,' she suggested.Source: Burkina Information Agency
