According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative is part of the national effort to strengthen the prevention and control of diseases with a high community impact, particularly women's cancers and communicable infections.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Rangnaewend e Ou edraogo, President of the Special Delegation of Dalo, in the presence of municipal, provincial, and regional health authorities, as well as technical and financial partners. The event's sponsor, Mr. Kabor e Sakma, health advisor and consultant to the World Health Organization (WHO), praised the initiative, stating that it "reflects the commitment of local stakeholders to bringing health services closer to the population."
During these two days, the medical teams offered several services. These included cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening, as well as the so-called triple elimination strategy, which includes screening for hepatitis B, HIV, and syphilis.
According to the organizers, the goal was not only to offer free services, but above all to raise awareness among the population about the importance of early detection. "Early detection increases the chances of recovery and reduces complications," said Eli Niki¨ma, a midwife.
Speaking at the event, the President of the Special Delegation congratulated the Association of Midwives/Obstetricians for its ongoing commitment to maternal and community health. He urged the population to seize these opportunities to learn about their health status, emphasizing that "prevention remains the most effective weapon against preventable diseases."
The campaign also featured communication sessions for behavior change, emphasizing individual and collective responsibility in health promotion.
Through this health mobilization, the initiators reaffirm their commitment to supporting public health policies and contributing to the sustainable improvement of health indicators in the Ziro province.
