Support for the transition: The ‘wayiyans’ of Gaoua for an extension

At the initiative of the Regional Coordination of Citizen Watch Associations (CRAVC) of the South-West, a march-meeting was organized on Saturday May 11, 2024 in Gaoua, to support the President of the transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. On occasion, demonstrators called for the extension of the transition.The 'wayiyans' of the South-West region stormed the Place de la Nation in Gaoua, a gathering place for demonstrators to express their support for the Transition authorities, in particular the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim. Traoré for the 'many sacrifices' made in the fight against terrorism.Coming from the four provinces of the region (Le Poni, Bougouriba, Noumbiel and Ioba) the demonstrators demanded the extension of the transition.Leaving from the Place de la Nation, the demonstrators, placards and banners in hand with messages of support for the President of the Transition, Ibrahim Traoré, walked along the streets of the city, before reaching the Place de la Nation for their meeting.'We are in th e place of the Nation to provide our support to President Ibrahim Traoré and show him our determination to support him in his projects and initiatives,' suggested the regional coordinator of the South-West citizen watch associations, René Hien.For them, the organization of elections is not on the agenda. The region wants continuity in the transition which, according to Mr. Hien, is working hard to bring peace to Burkina Faso.The president, he continued, came to power for a specific reason: the return of stability.'We call on the international community and local lackeys that whatever they do, our President IB must remain in power until security returns,' he warned.Adama Da, a demonstrator, welcomed the arrival of the president to power. Since his arrival, he indicated, the department of Djigoué (Province of Poni) long martyred for years has been liberated.This is why Adama Da said he encouraged the president to continue his mission until the integrity of the territory is renewed. Canton leaders also gave their support to President Ibrahim Traoré. Among which, the head of Gaoua canton, Bifité II.For him, Ibrahim Traoré is a source of pride for Burkina Faso.
