Kaya: The regional section of the Tabital Pulaaku Burkina Association organized an awareness conference on Saturday in Kaya on the theme "Responsible Citizenship and Social Cohesion in the Face of Disinformation", inviting communities to strengthen their unity, dialogue, and resilience in the face of divisive rhetoric.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the conference was held under the joint patronage of Ministers Moumouni Zoungrana, responsible for Secondary Education, Vocational and Technical Training, and Mikailou Sidib, in charge of Homeland Construction. The event was chaired by the interim governor of the Kouls region, represented by the high commissioner of the Sandbondtenga province, Idrissa Gamsonr.
The conference gathered young people, women, community leaders, and various administrative, customary, and religious authorities to address issues of responsible citizenship, combat disinformation, and enhance social cohesion. The president of the regional section of Tabital Pulaaku Kouls, Poussi Diane, emphasized the importance of informing the population about presidential initiatives and participation mechanisms while highlighting the adverse effects of disinformation on social cohesion.
"For communities to live well together, they must learn to know each other, to sit down together and to exchange ideas on matters of common interest," Diane stressed.
The presentations by Kibakit Naaba from Naaba Koom of Sandbondtenga and Pasnewend Oudraogo, Secretary General of the province of Sandbondtenga, fostered rich and constructive exchanges with participants. Messages of peace, tolerance, and coexistence were delivered, urging people to preserve unity and strengthen social cohesion.
Minister Moumouni Zoungrana praised the mobilization of different communities around dialogue and cohesion strengthening. He noted that the conference aligned with President Ibrahim Traor's vision to enhance understanding and solidarity between communities to accelerate Burkina Faso's development.
He also acknowledged the participants' commitment to overcoming differences and consolidating unity, urging continued mobilization around the People's Progressive Revolution (RPP).
