Gaoua: The Central Church of the Assemblies of God of Gaoua commemorated, on Saturday in Gaoua, the 47 years of pastoral ministry of its principal pastor and founder, Jo«l Nougtara, in the presence of many pastors and faithful. The ceremony was marked by several activities, including a marching band parade through the city streets, a thanksgiving service, and a community meal.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this celebration is intended as an act of thanksgiving to God, but also as a tribute to the founding pastor for his commitment. Pastor Jo«l Nougtara expressed his gratitude to God for his years of service. Reflecting on his journey, he spoke of the trials, suffering, and persecutions he had faced, while also highlighting the fruits and victories achieved over time. He urged his peers to train fruitful disciples, believing that without this, their mission would lose its meaning. He also emphasized the importance of sharing the Gospel and providing material support.
Addressing the congregation, Pastor Nougtara urged them to be faithful, sanctified, and to turn away from sin, declaring, "Without sanctification, efforts are in vain," and exhorting them to accept Jesus Christ. Ollo Mose Da, a member of the organizing committee, stated, 'We want to express our gratitude to God for his work and honor the pastor for his dedication. He made enormous sacrifices, giving up everything to answer God's call and serve the community.' He added that this initiative aims to encourage the pastor to continue his mission and to inspire the faithful to follow his example of faith and commitment.
A church member, Olive Zoma, testified to the pastor's human and spiritual qualities, describing him as a committed, approachable man who was close to his congregation. She praised his perseverance in the face of difficulties, particularly during the construction of the church building. Starting from a simple tent, the church gradually evolved into an imposing building, thanks to the faith and determination of the pastor and the Christian community.
The thanksgiving service was filled with praise, worship, testimonies, prayers of thanksgiving, and messages of blessing for the pastor. The faithful also prayed for the authorities and the defense and security forces, as well as for the return of peace and the total reconquest of the national territory.
