The president of the special delegation of the commune of Léo, Kassoum Koalaga chaired on Friday, June 23, 2023 in the meeting room of the town hall, the 2nd extraordinary session of the year focused on the examination and adoption of the action plan of the Pdic/Redd+ project of the commune of Léo.
During the work, the members of the delegation were treated to a presentation followed by an explanation of the action plan of the Pdic/Reed+ project of the municipality of Léo made by the project's head of mission, Bobodo known as Blaise Sawadogo.
According to the presenter, the implementation of the Pdic/Redd+ project in the municipality of Léo will undoubtedly contribute to reducing the pressure on forests and wooded areas.
It aims to improve the management of forest resources in order to increase carbon sequestration in the two conservation areas concerned by the project, namely the conservation area of Payalo 21.77 ha and that of Betiessan approximately 20 ha.
According to Mr. Sawadogo, the project also aims to generate income for the benefit of 48,553 people, including 33,661 young people, 2,971 women, 1,503 men and 757 IDPs, to reduce the need for firewood, to improve food security by supporting production and in AGR.
Over a period of two years, the implementation of the action plan of the Pdic / Redd + project will require a financial mobilization of two hundred million accompanied by a bonus of one hundred million, mentioned the head of the project, Bobodo said Blaise Sawadogo.
From the exchanges, all the concerns of the delegates were taken into account by the head of mission and his collaborators. Thus the Pdic/Redd+ project action plan was adopted unanimously.
Another presentation allowed the delegation to give its agreement in principle to the development of a master plan for the development and sustainable development of the municipality of Léo.
The secretary general of the municipality Saïdou Ouédraogo indicated that the interest for the municipality to have a master plan for development and sustainable development is that it guides it in the use of these potentialities.
He pointed out that the master plan is a planning document that goes beyond ten years and that it takes into account the urban core and the peripheral villages.
After the presentation, the delegates gave discharge for the development of the master plan for the development and sustainable development of the municipality of Léo.
The president of the special delegation of Léo, Kassoum Koalaga indicated that the adoption of the action plan in connection with the Redd+ project makes it possible to safeguard the forests and the conservation areas of the commune of Léo and to create income for the benefit beneficiary populations so that they can reduce its impact on these natural resources.
He invited the populations to welcome this project in that it will help to mitigate the effects of climate change and improve their living conditions.
He also invited the population of the commune of Léo to collaborate frankly with the teams which will be deployed on the ground during the process of drawing up the master plan for development and sustainable development.
