Pni:The Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) Agricultural workers in the commune of Pni are continuing their farming efforts, despite facing insect pest issues, particularly in their corn plots.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the VDP Agricoles initiated their first agricultural campaign by cultivating a total of 7 hectares. This area includes 2 hectares for maize, 4 hectares for rice, and 1 hectare for intercropping peanuts and cowpeas, as detailed by the VDP Agricoles delegate, Djakaridia Traor.

At this point in the season, the farmers find the overall progress of their crops satisfactory. However, the cornfields are experiencing a significant presence of insect pests. "Overall, the season is going well. Only the insects are causing us difficulties with the corn. With the support of our extension workers, we are carrying out the necessary treatments to protect the crops," stated Mr. Traor.

The farmers continue to maintain and monitor their plots with help from technical services, aiming to preserve the crops until harvest. Djakaridia Traor expressed gratitude for the support from administrative authorities and agricultural extension workers throughout the season. Through this agricultural project, the VDP Agricoles aim to boost agricultural production and enhance food security in the commune.
