Village of Darsalam Mobilizes Support for Local Defense Volunteers

Solenzo: The village of Darsalam donates 227 bags of food and over one million CFA francs to the VDP (Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland). The population of the village of Darsalam, located 25 km from Solenzo, gathered in the public square on Wednesday, April 8, to present 227 bags of 100 kg, comprising corn, rice, and sorghum, to the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) of the village.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the villagers came together to honor the VDP's commitment to combating terrorism and to offer their support. Stored food supplies were displayed to the local population and the president of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Solenzo, along with his delegation. The VDP themselves contributed an additional 53 bags of grain from their communal field.

Furthermore, financial assistance of 1,380,000 CFA francs was provided to the VDP to facilitate the purchase of fuel and other necessities. Women involved with the VDP played a significant role by contributing 580,000 CFA francs and gathering 20 containers of shea butter. Additionally, the village's citizen watch group donated 10 bags of cement to Faso Mªbo in Solenzo.

During the event, local chief J©r©my Sama praised the community for their solidarity and emphasized the importance of agreement and social cohesion for large-scale initiatives. The gathering also served as an opportunity for residents to voice concerns about educational, healthcare, and community development needs.

Amza Ou©draogo, representing the teachers and speaking for the community, highlighted the need for renovating the first classroom building and completing a second building that has been under construction since 2021. In healthcare, the community requested the rehabilitation of the maternity ward and the establishment of a dispensary.

Marou Ilboudo, the PDS of Solenzo, commended the VDP for their dedication and applauded the community for their contributions. He acknowledged the unity and community spirit demonstrated through the donations, urging continued support for educators and healthcare workers to ensure the well-being of Darsalam.
