Washington advocates two-state settlement of Israeli-Palestinian conflict (Biden)

The United States insists on a two-state solution to resolve the Middle East conflict, despite the recent escalation between Israel and Palestine. This was announced by US President Joe Biden, speaking in Tel Aviv at the end of his urgent solidarity visit.

“No matter how difficult it is, we must continue to move towards peace. We must ensure that the Israeli and Palestinian people can live in security and peace. For me, this implies a two-state solution, underlined the tenant of the White House. We must always work to ensure Israel’s deeper integration with its neighbors. »

“The current incursions [by Hamas] only strengthen my commitment and my determination, my will to achieve this. I’m here to tell you: the terrorists are not going to win. It is freedom that will win,” he stressed.

In this, he called on Israeli authorities to distinguish between most Palestinians and radicals. “The majority of Palestinians – it’s not Hamas,” Mr. Biden pointed out.

The crisis shaking the Middle East escalated on October 7 following the infiltration of Hamas fighters into Israeli territory. Hamas sees the attack as a response to Israeli raids on the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched strikes against it and against parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank. Nearly 3,000 people were killed and around 13,700 injured on the Palestinian side, while Israel deplored up to 1,500 deaths and more than 4,200 injured.
