As part of the implementation of the "Local governance and social cohesion (GoLCos)" project, the Association Monde Rural (AMR) organized on Thursday, August 24, 2023 in Ouahigouya, a capacity building session for the benefit of about thirty women from the North region.
The general objective targeted through this capacity building session is to contribute to the promotion of the civil, political and economic rights of women for a better involvement of the latter in the process of local development in the area of intervention of the project (Thiou, Zogoré, Boussou, Titao, Namissiguima, Ouahigouya).
In order to help meet the challenges, the Association Monde Rural, in partnership with the UNDP, proposes to implement a series of actions through the project “Local governance and social cohesion (GoLCos).”
A total of 30 women leaders from different organizations in the commune of Ouahigouya (former municipal councillors, former mayors, deputies, leaders of political parties or movements, leaders of development associations) benefited from this training.
At the opening of the workshop, Félix Ilboudo, Vice-president of the Board of Directors of the AMR, invited all the participants to lend an attentive ear and to participate actively in the discussions during the three days of training.
On behalf of the participants in the training, Djénéba Bagaya thanked the AMR and its partner the UNDP for having worked to make the training effective.
"I invite all women to actively participate in exchanges in order to increase our skills in local governance" suggested the women's representative of the Ouahigouya women's departmental coordination.
For 72 hours, these women were equipped through modules on traditional and modern accountability mechanisms, social cohesion, the role of actors in strengthening the social fabric, the contribution of actors to prevention and inclusive management of community conflicts. .
In addition, the participants discussed the principles of good governance, general information on the Communal Development Plan and the Annual Communal Investment Plan and on citizen control of public action.
