Dj´r´: Regional authorities in Dj´r´ commemorated the second anniversary of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES) on Monday with the traditional flag-raising ceremony at the Gaoua administrative building. The regional governor, Siaka Barro, delivered the message from the President of Burkina Faso, Head of State and President of the Confederation of Sahel States.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in his speech, the President of the AES recalled that the creation of the Confederation of the AES, on July 6, 2024, constitutes a major step in the march of the peoples of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger towards an integration based on sovereignty, solidarity, and shared development. In the message, Comrade Captain Ibrahim Traor© invited the people of the confederation to remain united and mobilized to support the community dynamic initiated by the three member states.
The speech also highlighted the progress made in the areas of defence, security, free movement of people and goods, as well as the institutional reforms undertaken since the creation of the organisation. The president of the confederation also praised the resilience of the peoples of the AES in the face of security and economic challenges, while reaffirming the commitment of the authorities to continue efforts to consolidate peace, stability, and development for the benefit of the populations.
The ceremony, marked by the solemn raising of the national colours, took place in an atmosphere of patriotic fervor in the presence of the defence and security forces, administrative authorities, and several guests. This celebration of the second anniversary of the AES was an opportunity for regional authorities to reiterate their commitment to the ideals of sovereignty, fraternity, and integration promoted by the Confederation, while calling on the people to remain committed to the success of this common project.
