Zondoma: The Danaoua "B" school in the municipality of Gourcy has received a significant boost in its agricultural and gardening capabilities thanks to a donation from the Association for the Organization and Implementation of Events and Projects (AOREP). The official handover ceremony of the equipment took place in the schoolyard, witnessed by education officials and members of the village's educational community.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the national coordinator of AOREP, Oumarou Tindour©, highlighted that this donation is part of a broader initiative titled "School Fields and Gardens." This project, which operates in the provinces of Zondoma and Passor©, aims to ensure adequate nutrition for students and promote children's education. The equipment provided includes wire mesh, agricultural tools, seeds, fertilizer, and pesticide.
The director of the Francis Ily school, along with his team, expressed their commitment to utilizing the equipment to enhance the school's activities and increase production for the school canteen. As part of the initiative, teachers, the school council, and students received training in agricultural production techniques from agricultural technicians.
Karim Sawadogo, the Provincial Director of Education for Zondoma, expressed gratitude to AOREP for its ongoing support of the education sector. He encouraged the beneficiaries to leverage this opportunity for the effective implementation of the school garden and field, aligning with the guidelines set by educational authorities. Sawadogo noted that such actions are consistent with the state's vision of integrating vocational training and production into schools, contributing to food self-sufficiency.
The initiative also received support from local leaders. Sadou Mand©, the first vice-president of the Gourcy municipal special delegation, and Patoim Sankara, head of the Gourcy 2 basic education district (CEB), urged the educational community of Danaoua to unite in achieving the educational objectives for the children.
Beyond gardening equipment, AOREP also provided resources for electrifying three classrooms and donated 100,000 CFA francs for purchasing a draft animal for plowing. Since its founding in 2006, AOREP has been involved in several sectors, including electrification, equipment provision, and classroom construction, particularly in schools across Zondoma and Passor©.
