Ouagadougou: The raising of the colours was marked by the reading of the message for Year II of the AES and a call for citizen mobilization. The traditional national flag-raising ceremony was held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Zons© town hall. It brought together administrative, traditional and religious authorities, community leaders, as well as women and young people from the town.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the President of the Special Delegation (PDS), Wendinmi Fr©d©ric Ou©draogo, read the message from the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, marking the second anniversary of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES). He then invited the population to participate in a community cleanup operation to benefit the Zabr© Medical Center with Surgical Unit (CMA).

The town hall square in Zons© was packed with people. Alongside local authorities, traditional and religious leaders, women, young people, and community leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the ideals of patriotism, sovereignty and national cohesion. Following the raising of the colors, the PDS proceeded with the solemn reading of the message from the Head of State, who is also the current Chairman of the AES. In this message, Captain Ibrahim Traor© reviewed the achievements made since the creation of the Confederation, particularly in the areas of defense, diplomacy, and development, which he described as "three fundamental pillars of the Alliance."

'Two years later, this date has become much more than an institutional anniversary. It now symbolizes the hope for an African renaissance. It is the expression of the unwavering political will of three countries, resolutely committed to the fight against terrorism and determined to work for the well-being of our people,' reported the PDS, quoting the President of Faso. In order to enable all components of the population to take ownership of this message, the PDS had it translated into the Bissa language by the traditional chief of Soper, Naaba Zaare.

This initiative was welcomed by the audience, particularly by the elderly and rural populations, who were thus able to better understand the issues of sovereignty, integration, and development raised by the AES. Taking advantage of this mobilization, Wendinmi Fr©d©ric Ou©draogo launched an appeal for the massive participation of the population in a community sanitation day, scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the CMA of Zabr©. According to him, this action will bring together the populations of the communes of Zabr©, Zons©, and Zoaga to clean up this health infrastructure, for the benefit of all the inhabitants of the province.

Through this ceremony, marked by the reading of the presidential message and the announcement of a civic action, the municipality of Zons© reaffirms its adherence to the values of patriotism, solidarity, and community development advocated by the highest authorities of the country.
